At The HandStand Shop, we believe meaningful innovation doesn’t always come from boardrooms or billion-dollar labs. Sometimes it starts in quiet spaces—where curiosity meets persistence, and ideas are given the time to become real.
This is one of those stories.
From Concept to Reality
My name is Carlos Da Luz, and The HandStand Shop began the same way many real innovations do—with observation, frustration, and an unwillingness to accept “good enough.”
With a professional background as a 3D Mechanical Designer, I’ve spent years turning concepts into precise, manufacturable realities. Design is not just something I do—it’s how I think. Every idea in my head immediately becomes geometry, tolerances, materials, fasteners, loads, and finishes. If it can’t be built, it isn’t finished.
The idea behind The HandStand didn’t arrive all at once. It surfaced repeatedly—quietly but persistently—while moving through public spaces, workplaces, and facilities where hand sanitizer dispensers were everywhere… yet rarely thoughtful. They worked, but they weren’t refined. They existed, but they weren’t designed.
I knew they could be better.
More practical.
More adaptable.
More durable.
More intentional.
And yes—better looking.
Designed, Not Just Made
The HandStand is not an off-the-shelf product. It is the result of planning, modeling, iteration, and restraint—the kind that comes from someone who understands both form and function.
Every detail was considered:
- Structural integrity
- Material selection
- Manufacturing feasibility

These designs were built the same way professional equipment is built: from the inside out. CAD models evolved through countless revisions. Dimensions were questioned. Proportions were refined. Features were removed when they didn’t serve the purpose.
Because good design isn’t about adding more.
It’s about knowing what to keep.
